Charybdis – Sci-fi / Action
Part 1 |
Part 2 |
Part 3 | Part 4 (Undergoing gradual assembly)
In the years following the catastrophic Corporation Wars, human civilization has built itself back up again, thanks in no small part to the mighty Morbex Corporation and their interstellar Jumpstation technology. When a mysterious hacker breaks into the supposedly unbreakable Morbex central mainframe, and then proceeds to effortlessly elude an entire city full of Morbex Corporation Security Force operatives, the company goes on high alert. But this is just the first (and most insignificant) of many incidents that find MCSF soldier Yvonne Delacroix slowly being drawn into a conflict that threatens to break apart the very core of civilization in the known – and unknown - galaxy.

The Stargazer – Sci-fi
Rebellious teenager Dana Rae is sick of the tired, monotonous life on board the Worldship, Humanity’s interstellar Noah’s Ark. With their entire lives and social structures ruled and prescribed by the Worldscheme of the ships designers, she alone seems to feel that their lives are worthless. Only the Stargazer, a seemingly useless robot, brings her any comfort. But when the Worldship encounters a wormhole that could shorten their journey by several hundred years, Dana’s rebellion is turned on its head.

Quantum Leap – Sci-fi / Racing
In the high-speed, high-tech, and even higher-stakes world of Steed racing, three-time champion “Lightning” Leon Lassader is the best of the best. Only one problem – the revolutionary (and expensive) new Quantum Core reactor that he and Team Lassader R&D man Moses Makwane have developed isn’t winning races, and his sponsor isn’t impressed with the lack of victories. With Team Lassader in danger of being shut down, Leon has two days to get the unpredictable and unstable Quantum Core up and running before his next race. Hope seems remote, until they find help in the least likely person imaginable.

Scavenger Hunt – Sci-Fi / Comedy / Mystery
Part 1 |
Part 2
Life as a Scavenger Hunter requires a sharp mind, brilliant deductive abilities, a competent grasp of technology, and a good dollop of suicidal insanity. Gaz Nuclear has all of these (to compliment his stupid name). What he doesn’t have is money, which is why he finds himself on a client-sponsored luxury cruise on interstellar starliner “Elysian Fields”. He’s been contracted to do his job, i.e. to find and covertly procure a particularly rare and expensive item. Did we mention that the item in question already belongs to someone else? No? Well, it does. And this is just the beginning Gaz’s many, many problems.

Lamentations
Just some quick bloggage for those who kindly take the time to read it. First: Charybdis Part IV is indeed in progress after a brief hiatus brought about by writer’s block (read Half-Life: Episode 1 and my other hobby of amateur game design). I’ve taken a new approach to planning it that should render it better-paced than Part III, which was NOT as coherent as I’d have liked. Alas, the limited feedback on the piece hasn’t allowed to me to gauge whether I should rewrite it or not, so I’ll forge ahead with Part IV regardless and hope I can make it better in my own eyes. There’ll be some revelations, oh yes… Much more revelation is planned…

Alas, as for what Charybdis actually is, you’ll have to wait.

So sad for you.
I’m also planning my post-Charybdis projects. Yes, there are two/2/II. The one is a short story relating to my favourite theme: screwing with time and the ensuing paradoxes (alas, my Latin grammar sucketh. If anyone knows the proper plural for “paradox”, let me know

). I’m not sure if my particular take on it has been done before (probably), but I’d like to write it anyway. It won’t be anything fancy, and it’ll be short, sweet, and philosophical in the vein of my earlier work.
The second is another little (hah!) story I’ve been working on since high school with the original intention of turning it into a graphic novel. I’ve actually already written some of it in the form of a teaser trailer thing that I sent to

for consideration. Given her enthusiasm over it, I’ve decided to render it as another multipart story. I’ll probably post the intro as a scrap in the next couple of weeks as a quick concept test. As always, commentary is met with immense gratitude and binge-drin… er… celebration.
Finally, a long-belated promise must be fulfilled.

is a young lady who has just entered the happy world of literary creation.
Maelstrom, her first short story, takes clear inspiration from X-men, but the execution is quite different. It’s a little rough around the edges here and there in terms of grammar and construction, as should be expected from a first-timer of her age, but in my opinion the spark of talent is definitely there. Take a look - there are fifteen or seventeen short chapters so far, so you can read it in short snippets – and give her some support. Now if only she would get around to finishing it
And that’s it!
Write on!
